Inspiring the world around us through acts of kindness.

Leeds, December 4, 2025

Afrikindess Digital Inclusion TrainingAfrikindness is proud to share the ongoing success of our Digital Inclusion Training Programme, generously sponsored by Leeds Community Foundation through the QFutures Community Fund, delivered in partnership with 100% Digital Leeds. This five-module programme is designed to empower parents with the digital skills they need to thrive—from basic digital literacy to becoming confident, independent, and digitally skilled users.

We initially faced challenges with limited laptops and training space, but this was quickly resolved through a timely and generous donation of 15 laptops from Reconome, and 12 months internet access from Jangala, enabling us to continue delivering high-quality digital training in the community. This support came at a crucial moment, addressed an urgent need, and truly highlights the kindness and commitment of organisations working to make a real impact in communities.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to 100% Digital Leeds, Reconome, Leeds Community Foundation, Jangala and Quickline for their unwavering support.

With Module 1 currently underway, the programme has already delivered three impactful training sessions, each focused on building confidence, safety awareness, and practical digital skills. The sessions have been highly interactive and empowering, with more than 30 parents participating consistently.

Funder Engagement & Community Connection

We were pleased to welcome Alex Koupis, Fund Manager at Leeds Community Foundation, and Connor Moore, Social Values Executive Quickline, who joined the third training session to observe the programme in action. Their presence offered parents the opportunity to meet and engage directly with the funders supporting their journey. Both Alex and Connor shared encouraging feedback, acknowledging the value of the work and the enthusiasm of participants.

What Participants Are Gaining

Across the sessions delivered so far, parents shared meaningful improvements in their digital confidence and everyday skills. Key benefits reported include:

  • Increased confidence in using laptops
  • Reduced fear, anxiety, and hesitation around technology
  • Greater motivation to continue practising and using digital tools effectively

With over 30 active and consistent learners, the programme continues to build momentum.

Broader Impact: Supporting Education Beyond Digital Skills

Beyond the core training, a significantly wider impact has emerged: Parents are now increasingly supporting their children’s education by accessing GCSEPod, an online learning platform that Afrikindness offers to KS3 & KS4 students. The training has helped parents gain confidence in using laptops and ability to support their children with schoolwork.

As part of the project, laptops have been distributed to a number of families, and our team continues to provide one-to-one support to ensure every parent—and every child—benefits from digital access at home.

“Before the sessions, I was scared of even opening my laptop. Now I log in confidently, help my child find GCSEPod videos, and even use the internet safely. This training has changed my life and I will still continue with the training.”

Looking Ahead

With two more modules to go, the Digital Inclusion Training continues to move participants from basic skills to real digital empowerment. We are excited about the journey ahead and the long-term impact this programme will bring to families, communities, and young people.

Afrikindness extends heartfelt gratitude to Leeds Community Foundation, Quickline, Reconome, Jangala and 100% Digital Leeds for championing this essential work—and to every parent showing dedication, courage, and commitment to learning.
