THIS IS MY PLACE: Helping Children and Young People Feel They Belong

10th Feb 2026

Every child wants to feel that they belong —
to feel safe, seen, and understood,
and to be able to say with confidence: “This is my place.”

Yet for many children and young people, that sense of belonging is not always easy. Some feel left out, different, or unsure of where they fit — at school, in friendships, or even at home.

During Children’s Mental Health Week 2026, Afrikindness hosted a supportive webinar inspired by this year’s theme: “This Is My Place.”

The conversation offered eye-opening insights, heartfelt moments, and practical reflections on why belonging matters so deeply for children’s mental health, and simple everyday ways families can help children feel safe, valued, and connected.

🎥 This recording is a must-watch for parents and teens — offering reassurance, understanding, and practical guidance to support emotional wellbeing and open conversations at home.

Catch up on this powerful discussion and be part of the ongoing dialogue.
