Your Role, Their Future :- Understanding the UK Educational System
11th June 2026
In this parent talk, we explored how families can better understand the UK school system, including SATs, GCSEs, school expectations, communication with teachers, and the support available for children with different learning needs.
A key reflection from the session was the importance of going beyond information — and recognising the real barriers many migrant families face, including cultural differences, language, and uncertainty about how to engage confidently with schools. These factors can often impact whether parents feel able to ask for support or advocate for their children.
The discussion highlighted that effective engagement is not just about access to systems, but about trust, cultural understanding, and creating safe spaces where families feel heard and supported. We also explored GCSEpod software and how this supports KS2, KS3 learning.
