Afrikindness successfully delivered a Safeguarding Training & Bullying Awareness session in Bradford, bringing together parents, faith leaders, volunteers, and community members for an important conversation on protecting children and creating safer communities.
Hosted in partnership with RCCG Chapel of His Glory, Bradford, the session provided participants with practical knowledge, reflection, and discussion on safeguarding responsibilities within faith and community settings.
Dr. Vivian Okoye facilitated discussions on faith, bullying awareness, and the role of Christian communities in promoting safe, inclusive, and supportive environments for children and young people. Participants explored biblical perspectives on safeguarding, reflected on relevant scriptures, and considered how faith communities can actively contribute to child protection and wellbeing.
Dr. Pedi led the safeguarding and child protection training, covering key areas including abuse, neglect, recognising safeguarding concerns, reporting procedures, and understanding the responsibilities of adults in protecting children. The session encouraged active participation, with attendees asking thoughtful questions and sharing experiences from their own communities.
The training also highlighted where families and community members can access support when safeguarding concerns arise and reinforced the importance of early intervention and community awareness.
Afrikindness extends its sincere appreciation to the leadership of RCCG Chapel of His Glory, Bradford, particularly Pastor Dara Shofoluwe, Lead Pastor, and Dr. Sanfo Agyo, Head of Department Children Church, for their commitment to safeguarding, community wellbeing, and for creating a welcoming space for these important conversations.
The event provided an opportunity for reflection, learning, and collective action, demonstrating the vital role that faith communities play in safeguarding children and supporting families.
Special thanks go to the Afrikindness volunteer team and facilitators, including Dr. Pedi Obani, Dr. Vivian Okoye, and Kemi Oseni, whose dedication helped bring these conversations into the heart of the community and empowered participants with practical knowledge and confidence.
Speaking after the event, participants highlighted the value of discussing safeguarding through both practical and faith-based perspectives, helping to bridge understanding and strengthen community responsibility for child protection.
As part of its ongoing commitment to community empowerment, Afrikindness continues to work with faith groups, community organisations, parents, and professionals to increase safeguarding awareness and improve outcomes for children and families.
