Leeds, UK – 2 May 2026
Afrikindness proudly joined fathers, families, and community organisations in Leeds to support the Push for Paternity Leave campaign, led by Leeds Dads in partnership with Parenting Out Loud.
The family-friendly march saw participants walk from Briggate to Millennium Square, as part of a coordinated national day of action across cities including Manchester, Nottingham, and London, calling for urgent reform of the UK’s paternity leave system.
Campaigners are advocating for more equitable parental leave policies to better support fathers, strengthen family bonds, and promote shared caregiving from the earliest stages of a child’s life.
A key moment from the Leeds event was a powerful and heartfelt speech delivered by Afrikindness’ Community Engagement Officer, Kemi Oseni, who spoke on the importance of inclusive family support and ensuring community voices are reflected in policy change.
Afrikindness continues to champion initiatives that support family wellbeing, reduce parental conflict, and build stronger, more connected communities.
