A Dialogue on How Parenting Styles and Challenges Have Evolved Over Generations

29th Oct 2025

In celebration of Black History Month 2025, Afrikindness hosted a powerful intergenerational conversation bringing parents and teens together for an open, honest, and thought-provoking dialogue.

In this session, young people courageously engaged parents in real reflections on how culture, resilience, and identity continue to shape the parenting journey — particularly within Black families. Through storytelling and shared wisdom, the discussion unpacked how values around discipline, education, pride, and emotional strength have evolved across generations, and the impact this has on young people growing up today.

The conversation offered eye-opening insights, heartfelt moments, and practical reflections that helped bridge generational gaps, deepen understanding, and reimagine parenting together.

🎥 This recording is a must-watch for parents and teens — offering learning, connection, and honest perspectives that spark meaningful conversations at home and beyond.

Catch up on this powerful discussion and be part of the ongoing dialogue.
