Three Weeks, Three Powerful Themes
🔹 Week 1 – Building Educators’ Self-EsteemFacilitated by Alice Crawford, Afrikindness Education & Curriculum Specialist, this session focused on personal growth, confidence building, and the emotional resilience needed to navigate the daily pressures of teaching. Educators explored wellbeing strategies, character strengths, the power of self-belief, and how teacher self-esteem directly influences classroom climate and student engagement. |
🔹 Week 2 – Improving Foundational LiteracyLed by Maryl Steyn, Afrikindness Education & Curriculum Specialist, week two tackled one of the most urgent challenges facing schools today: literacy. Teachers received practical tools to strengthen comprehension, fluency, and early reading skills—especially important in multilingual and diverse classrooms across Africa. |
🔹 Week 3 – Understanding Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in ContextLed by Maleeha Rasheed, Afrikindness Education & Curriculum Specialist, week three explored SEL through an African lens, enabling teachers to apply culturally relevant approaches to building emotional intelligence, empathy, and self-regulation in young people. This theme directly supports Afrikindness’ mission of nurturing confident, grounded, and culturally aware learners |
